What Is Rhinoplasty?

Dr. Layliev may choose to do this as an open procedure, requiring a small incision under the nose in combination with intranasal incisions, or a closed procedure, limiting the incisions to inside the nose.

Good Candidates for Rhinoplasty Surgery
Patients in good overall health, with no cardiovascular or blood-clotting illnesses, are prime candidates for rhinoplasty surgery. If you want to alter the appearance of your nose, you may be recommended for this cosmetic nasal procedure.
Rhinoplasty can be performed to correct defects and breathing problems at an early age. For cosmetic nasal surgery, teenagers should wait until their nose is fully developed; this is between 15 and 16 years old for girls and a year later for boys.
Ideally, patients should be non-smokers and should not consume alcohol in large amounts regularly. It is also important to have realistic expectations and a positive outlook.
Your Rhinoplasty Consultation
Your initial consultation will include a physical examination of your nasal structures. Additional imaging and tests may be required. To gain a clearer understanding of your compatibility with the procedure, your medical history will be reviewed. Be prepared to discuss any pre-existing conditions, current medications and vitamins, and past surgeries.

The Procedure
Rhinoplasty surgery is performed under anesthesia; the type of anesthesia is chosen during your consultation. Incisions are created between or inside the nostrils, depending on the technique employed. Then, bone, soft tissue, and or cartilage is removed, repositioned, or reshaped to achieve the desired outcome. Finally, incisions are stitched closed with sutures.
The whole process may take a few hours, depending on the complexity of the surgery.
Rhinoplasty Recovery and Healing
Recovery after rhinoplasty surgery depends on your body’s natural healing ability. A splint is placed after the procedure to preserve the new shape of the nose. Swelling, bruising, and pain are normally experienced. Some patients also experience headaches after surgery. Medications will be prescribed to help manage these symptoms.
To minimize swelling, keep your head elevated for the first 24 hours and prop yourself up while sleeping. You may need to take a few weeks off to heal from your nose job surgery. After a month or so, you may be able to go back to your normal routine and any strenuous activities.

Dr.Layliev is very knowledgeable, has the patience of a saint, is extremely compassionate, and has a wonderful bedside manner. I had yet to meet a doctor that I trusted until I met him, which is saying a lot because I’m very nervous and paranoid to have anyone touch my face and perform any sort of facial reconstruction due to the fact that I don’t want my whole face to change. It’s extremely important to me to have natural results. I’m super picky, and he stressed that he believes in the goal to have natural results as well. “Broken Nose Needed Repair”
I had been considering rhinoplasty since I broke my nose many years ago. I met Dr. Layliev once and casually mentioned this to him. He answered my questions before I had even scheduled my consult.
